Tacoma Community Redevelopment Authority Board Candidates Wanted – The Suburban Times

Tacoma City Council is seeking to fill eight volunteer positions on the Tacoma Community Redevelopment Authority (TCRA) Council: one in an individual capacity, one representative with experience in contracting residential developments; two representatives of chartered accountants; two representatives with experience in banking or financing; and two representatives with at least three years of experience as a chartered real estate broker or agent.

The TCRA administers grants and loans to help low-income households and families buy or repair their homes, developers or owners of multi-family dwellings who provide housing for low-income families, businesses that set up businesses jobs or rehabilitate dilapidated buildings; and nonprofit organizations that provide housing and economic development services to the Tacoma community.

The TCRA meets at 7:30 am. the second and fourth Thursday of the month, from January to October. In November and December, meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays. In response to the continued impacts of COVID-19, meetings are currently being held virtually. Interested applicants are invited to attend a meeting during the application period. The open positions for a bank representative and two real estate representatives are currently filled by people whose terms are expiring, can reapply and be interviewed. Candidates will speak with Council members during the Community Vitality and Safety Committee meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for February 24, 2022.
